The Beacon Clubs underpin the England Talent Programmes. They host regional Beacon training days for the selected athletes - this being the first rung of the ladder for the England Programme. The next level is the England Development Squad, progressing to the England Age Group Squad. These athletes work towards an international competition and are aged 13-15yrs.
The final step of the England Programme is the England Training Squad for 15yrs+. These athletes train with their clubs on a day to day basis increasing training to achieve International standard as well as working with the England programme during camps and having a centralised training day. each Saturday with a Beacon club.
There are four Beacon synchronised swimming programmes and these programmes are essential to the success in this new era of synchronised swimming. The objectives of the Beacon programmes are to develop pathways with the athletes needs firmly centred at the heart of the club. They deliver grass roots to International athletes. Reading as one of the four clubs is working to run a fully sustainable programme with professional, development and community coaches creating an environment to encourage young girls and boys to be part of team sport and develop a sporting habit for life. The programmes embrace local community projects with a wide range of activities and competitive experiences across a broad spectrum of ages and abilities, creating a diverse network of participants across the region in which they are situated.
